This sure reads well, on paper- but what does this all mean relative to our daily living.!
3. - Resting, physically
and spiritually Trusting, lets start here, because without
trust,
how can we wait
and rest on God,? or in another
and what rest
would we see in Him!
And in his name
shall the Gentiles trust.
And again, Esaias
saith, There shall be a root of Jesse, and he that shall rise to reign
over the Gentiles; in him shall the Gentiles trust.
And such trust have
we through Christ to God-ward:
The word 'believe' also means Trust: to think to be true,
So for those who believe in the Saving grace of Jesus Christ, trust is already a part of believing, and here's examples of Trust, given to us, in real life. But
I trust in the Lord that I also myself shall come shortly.
Paul was waiting for God's perfect timing to make a way, for him to leave the charge that he had been given, and to come to the Philippians. For therefore we both
labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is
the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.
In time of adversity, and persecution, they didn't waver, but put their faith in the 'Living God' Charge
them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust
in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things
to enjoy;
If you have the money to buy most anything you want, then, to often, that is just what one does, if one has that ability. But, how then does that one know if the 'want' that they acquired, is in the Will of God? God may not have wished it for them at all, and had they not had the money for the acquiring of this 'want' they would have had to wait on God, to show to them whether He, God, would will this 'acquired want' or not, for their life. So it is harder for the 'moneyed' person to have the faith, required to wait upon God, before they know what is His will. And that is what Paul is saying here. Trust in the LORD with
all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
But we always want to understand what is going on in our lives, good, or not so good. So when we lack understanding, that's even more, when we need to Wait, and Rest in Him But it is good for
me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may
declare all thy works.
And there
are many of us believers, who are thrilled to declare the works of God,
after drawing nearing to Him.

To Trust God through Jesus, is to be fully persuaded, with confidence, that He will do for you, as it is His good pleasure- and it is always God's good pleasure to do His work in us. Trusting is much easier, when we know the fuller understanding of the Grace that God has shown towards us. GRACE, remember, are these qualities: kindness, tenderness, love,
mercy, caring, protective, just, etc. and that is what we are trusting
in.

hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth
he yet hope for?
Waiting on God, involves patience, and confidence, in His love and caring for us, and knowing that His good pleasure, is to work in us, so we can have that abundant life in Him, in all areas, of our lives. He knows all about us, even though we couldn't possibly know all about Him, He also knows what needs to be done in us, much better than we, and the more you see how much He really loves us, and tenderly cares for us, the more we can wait till it is His perfect time for us. Waiting on God, is always for that, which hasn't happened yet. Still unseen, but hoped for- (usually) Lead me in thy truth,
and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I WAIT all
the day.
My soul, wait thou
only upon God; for my expectation is from him.
The eyes of all wait
upon thee; and thou givest them their meat in due season.
No Wonder God said of David: But now thy kingdom
shall not continue: the LORD hath sought him a man after his own heart,
- - - -
and even a servant of Saul, said of David: Then answered one of
the servants, and said, Behold, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite,
that is cunning in playing, and a mighty valiant man, and a man of war,
and prudent in matters, and a comely person, and the LORD is with him.
These Men of
God, well understood, 'waiting on God', and not rushing out, in
their own will. They had great confidence in their God's love
toward them.
Beside the obvious, why is waiting so important for us? because when we wait for the will of God's pleasure in us to be clearly given to us, we know then, that it is the 'true' and perfect way for each one of us, individually. We can have confidence that we are walking in the light of God. Truth, is part of the holiness of God, through learning of Jesus. One of the attributes of the Glory of God, is His HOLINESS,
which is -truth, light, openness, wholeness, etc

that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
This is one of my favorite scriptures and are the perfect verses for 'Resting in Jesus' And now, to help explain the
better meaning of these verses, that we often read, but don't get the fullness
of, I'm going to use myself as an example of what I thought these verses
were about, before I understood the fuller Grace of God, through Jesus.
Not even
a year ago, I was asked to give a short devotion to lead off the women's
pray gathering, at the church I was attending. So this is the scripture,
that I choose to say a something on; and it went something like this:
I thought Jesus was asking
us to come to Him, with our burdens, (that which we may feel burdened about
and may be praying about) and let Him carry them for us. I concluded
that maybe we shouldn't carry any of theses burdens, and the only burdens
that we should carry, were the ones that Jesus was willing to give us,
because they were light.
Well, that was then, and this is now-- Jesus does not want our souls to be burdened at all. I may have been approaching an understanding or sorts, but what it really means, is this: Jesus is inviting us all to come into His rest, and that's a rest from our physical works, which gives us an emotional unrest, in the soul, to a spiritual rest. His yoke is easy, because He is so full of love for us, and He cares for us, and is always willing to have us to Himself, to know His goodness's, and to share them with us. Also His burden is light, for the same reason, and the only work, He has, is the Work that He pleasures in, the work in us, in our heart. We just need to learn more of Him from the spiritual Word of God, where He makes Himself known, by His holy spirit He is
letting us know, that in Him is all the rest we will ever need, from now
through all eternity. The real work of God, was finished by Jesus,
and now He is in His Rest, having long ago ceased from His work;
and He is inviting us to join Him in this wonderful place of Rest.

Howbeit the most High
dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet.
Heaven is my throne, and earth
is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is
the place of my rest?
Re read this one, because God in Jesus is telling us something very important here- for us to know! Our God has it all- He has a throne- made up in heaven- where He is; He has this earth- His footstool: with all of this already, what do we think we can build for Him, that He needs, or even wants.! Our Lord cares for us, not what we do, He works from our inside out, and He's still working on our hearts. He wants us to see and know more about Him, and what He wants, and to join Him in His rest. He doesn't want us to be earthbound, in our works for Him, He already has it all, and no body stress, building churches, or other works for Him is going to help God, and it could greatly hurt us. We need Him, and His rest; And we
can all learn more on getting by with what we have, so we'll have more
time for Him.
For we which have believed
do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall
enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation
of the world.
For he that is entered
into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from
his.
And here
is the clear understanding, that we can only enter into His rest,
under belief, in His works having been done, and having ceased from
our works, as Jesus has ceased from His, at the cross.
If we
as believers will trust our Lord, for our sufficiency, then we will wait
till He directs our paths, or opens the door, for us, and we will be able
to rest in Him, while we are waiting for His will to be given us, daily,
without our 'doing' anything to help Him- He has after all done it all.
Walking by faith is waiting and knowing and resting and when God moves, it is evident and we rejoice because of his grace, knowing in time he will do it because he loves us and cares for us, but we without faith cannot please Him. For faith is saying you exist in my daily life and I trust you This is a physical ceasing, in our own selfworks, (our little helps to God, or big helps, as the case may be) but a spiritual resting! In Trusting, waiting, and resting, we learn to rise above the physical circumstances, of life, to the spiritual power over life, whatever it may bring to us. Resting, while we are waiting, and trusting in our Lord's omnipotence in our lives we are learning more of the glory of God: in power, resurrection, life Click Hereto return to Top of Page "Sanctification, Christ in us" forward
