Oh, how many ways, man has determined there are, to be saved.

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Ephesians 2:8-9

This is it, folks-

We are saved by the Grace of God, when we have the faith to know that His work on the cross, was for us, each one of us.

We don't at all deserve it, we will never deserve it.   Nor is there anything we can do to earn it, or pay back to Christ, for this indescribable free gift, that He alone suffered for.

And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 3:14 -15-16

It is abundantly clear here, that John is saying that all we need, is to have belief in Jesus Christ, and His work of salvation on the cross, through His magnificent grace.

first amiss!

Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
Acts 2:41

Now here is where we begin to go amiss, when as some have believed, that unless we are baptized, we're not saved.  No, that is not true at all, there is nothing we can do to help God, save us.

God forbid that we should believe this even for a moment.   It is His grace alone, that saves us, through faith.

second amiss!

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Acts 2:38

Because of the above verse

There is a world wide denomination that believes, we are not saved, unless we speak in an unknown tongue.  How can we see such things in this holy bible.  How could anyone believe such as this, as if there were something we also had to do with Christ, to earn our salvation.
God gives us His holy spirit freely, when we believe,
it is our free gift from God, to everyone.

If we really ponder on this concept, we will see that, if we believe there is something else, beside what our Lord has already done for us,  then we are, in effect, trying to take some of His glory, from the complete and finished work of grace that belongs to God, alone, through His son Jesus.

For what knowest thou, O wife, whether thou shalt save thy husband? or how knowest thou, O man, whether thou shalt save thy wife?
1 Corinthians 7:16

Wouldn't it be as easy, if taken literally, to say that a saved wife, has the power to save an unsaved husband then!  God forbid, that we should be so ignorant, as to think, anything in us, is worthy of the power to save.  The best, we can do, is be a testimony and an vessel of the grace of Jesus, to others.

works
For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor.
Galatians 5:18

Since working is anything we as humans, do, the above verse tells us, that if we think we can put works up against the Grace of God, we transgress, greatly.  Jesus nailed the  law of works, for us, and replaced it with Grace.  We are not to build it up again or we will fall from grace, into works.

Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
Titus 3:5

For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?
But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it. Romans 8:24-25

And hope is:

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Hebrews 11:1

again by faith alone

Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas,
And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?
And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
Acts 16:27-28-29-30-31

And above is the answer from Paul and Silas, to the prison guard, to the question:  "What must I do to be saved?"

BELIEVE- they told him,  and that's all.

What about confession

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
Romans10:9

How often do I hear we aren't saved unless we believe and confess.  Based on the above scripture- well first, let me say the words faith and believe are in the new testament about 370 times, the word confess 17 times.

If I am saved, but cannot speak, so therefore, I say nothing with my mouth, am I not saved by faith? or am I not saved by faith only.  Does that mean that the Grace of God, through Jesus is not enough to save me, through my faith !  Not at all.

The word confess, means, basically, to speak out freely- it does not mean, standing in front of a congregation to make a profession of some kind.

Don't believe this?  ok, look at the second thief.  He spoke out to the first thief, in defense of Jesus, then asked Jesus to remember him, in His kingdom, and Jesus promised him that he would be, that day with him in Paradise. The thief spoke freely, before he was saved spiritually, that was his free word of faith.

The other thief, also spoke freely, also, in mockery of Jesus, and he was not saved.

Then what about the prison guard! He spoke faith words, in his question- How can I be saved- those were his faith words.

So lets be more sensitive to spoken words of faith, without putting a burden on anyone, under works, that they must do something.  Anyone, who is saved, will speak faith words--either before, during, or afterwards, of their faith in God's grace of salvation.

Also as information, in the day of Paul's beginning churches,  they had many spies, coming in amongst them, to report the happenings, to authorities, who would feign, a belief.  The converts needed to know who were really Christians, and the best way was to hear them praise their Lord in words of faith as they worshipped and learned together.

And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Acts 2:20-21

Could our God, make it any easier, for mankind to be saved!

Jesus is the one that suffered, not us, all we have to do, is believe on Him, and enjoy Him, and then learn more about Him, so we can have an intimate knowledge and companionship in Him.

It is His hope, that all men will be saved, for His pleasure.

Who is he, that overcomes?

Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
1 John 5:5

For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
1 John 5:4

WHAT OVERCOMING ISN'T:

It isn't looking at our fleshly faults, and thinking to ourselves that if we don't stop them, we just may  not make it,
the flesh will never overcome.

It is not looking at ourselves at all.  It is looking at the the provider of our faith, and in Him, and His righteousness, for our overcoming.

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Hebrews 12:2

Our God is our overcomer, to the end!

Rewards for the Overcomer

He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.
Revelation 2:7

Revelation 2:17

And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:

Revelation 2:26

He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

Revelation 3:5

Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name. Revelation 3:12
